Hillsborough County Secondary Music Council

All County

The Hillsborough All-County Ensembles are an opportunity for the top musicians from throughout the county to experience music making in a large ensemble setting with students from throughout the county. This is also a chance for these top-tier students to work with a professional director other than their own. This annual event showcases the best and brightest Hillsborough County has to offer.

Live auditions are held annually at Strawberry Crest High School. Auditions are blind and conducted by the directors throughout the county. Based on their auditions, students earn a position in the honor ensembles.

ALL Audition Fees and Invoice Forms must be RECEIVED by the HCSMC Treasurer. All contracts and names will be complete via a Microsoft Form.

Middle School Band

Scales: As selected by chair

Etude: Excerpts at the discretion of chair

High School Band (9 - 10)

Scales: Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A | Chromatic Scale

Etude: Lyrical or Technical – Discretion of Chair (Current Year MS All-State Etude)

*High school band will include an 8 measure sight-reading excerpt. Percussion will sight read on snare drum AND mallet percussion.

High School Band (11 - 12)

Scales: All 12 Major Scales | Chromatic Scale

Etude: Lyrical or Technical – Discretion of Chair (Current Year 9/10 All-State Etude)

*High school band will include an 8 measure sight-reading excerpt. Percussion will sight read on snare drum AND mallet percussion.
